Walmart Big Save Event 2020 Starts Ahead of Amazon Prime Day

With just a few days left until this year’s Amazon Prime Day event (October 13 – October 14), Walmart has announced its own Big Save event that includes deals on a variety of product categories earlier than its competitors, with the start date on October 11 and the last day of sales on October 15.

While Amazon’s Prime Day has become the major sale event before Black Friday in the last few years, other major retailers have seized the opportunity to offer their own sales to compete. The announcement doesn’t come as a surprise, given last year’s similar sale event held by Walmart.

In 2019, the Big Save event began one day before Amazon’s Prime Day and lasted one day longer. Deals were added daily, which offered customers the chance to get new price drops every day during the event.

This year’s event is not too different from the previous one since the retailer will roll out deals earlier than the above-mentioned competitor and run them for several days. The Big Save Event is planned to begin on October 11, at 7 p.m. EST, which is three days earlier than Prime Day, and it will last through October 15, which will provide customers with two more days to stock up on their needs.

According to Walmart, the event will feature ‘amazing Black Friday-like savings’ on several product categories that we will detail below. Moreover, purchases over $35 will benefit from free two-day shipping, and various items will be paired with free next-day delivery.

Getting the products you need won’t even call for a trip to the store, an approach that aligns with the latest social distancing norms and provides customers with the possibility to cater to their needs entirely from the comfort of their home.

Although the retailer hasn’t revealed everything that will be on sale, it is official that a few product categories will benefit from significant price cuts. Here is more on what is on sale this year.

Tech & Gaming

If you’ve been waiting for this season’s sale events to get a new TV or other items in the tech and gaming category, the Big Save deals might be of interest. From the information doing the rounds, once this year’s event begins, you will have the opportunity to get the 55-inch 4K HDR Roku Smart LED TV from JVC for $248. Given its current price, $399.99, that’s an item worth adding to your list of options.

For those of you who are into gaming, the next week’s deals include price drops on the Nintendo Switch Super Mario Party video game. The product will go on sale, and its price will drop to $39.99. The Roku Ultra LT Streaming Media Player 2019 will also be discounted, and the item will only cost you $69 if you decide on purchasing it.

 Toys & Fashion

Several products in the toy and clothing categories will also be discounted, and some of these price cuts have been made public. The 250-Piece Kids STEM 3D Magnetic Building Block, for example, is currently available for $79.99, although its original price is $114.99, and will be further discounted to $64.99.

If you want to seize next week’s deals to renew your fashion collection, you will be able to do so and save as well. The Scoop Printed Maxi Shirt Dress for women will be available for $39.99 (its current price is $59.00).

Home Items

If your spare time often finds you cooking and trying all sorts of recipes, Walmart’s Big Save event can help you add a new cooker to your kitchen arsenal and save as well. The Pioneer Woman 6-quart Instant Pot is currently discounted and available for $69, with its original price being $99. However, the item will go further on sale next week and be available for only $49.

The instant pot is a multi-use programmable pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, steamer, and warmer, which makes it worth considering, especially if you’re interested in cooking at home.

In case your old vacuum cleaner no longer works as it should, getting a new such item to help you keep your home as clean as a whistle will cost you less if you seize Walmart’s Big Save 2020 event deals. The Tineco A10 Spartan Cordless Vacuum is currently available for $159.99 but will go on sale next week and you’ll be able to get it for $129.99.

For those interested in cleaning their place with minimal effort, the IonVac Robot Vacuum will also be discounted. If its current price is $129.99 (discounted from $178.99), once the sale event begins, it will be available for $99, which results in a 45% price drop.

Walmart’s Black Friday 2020

The retailer has also announced changes regarding its Black Friday 2020 event saying that it will provide customers with an ‘an all-new Black Friday experience’. The new approach has been chosen following the COVID-19-related rules and the new shopping trends and preferences. Walmart’s Black Friday event will feature the following:

  • Early sales and reduced in-store hours – To minimize contact and support social distancing and to allow associates enough time to get the stores ready, the retailer will be closed on Thanksgiving but will open on Black Friday, although the exact hours have not been made public. The early online deals will compensate for the reduced in-store Black Friday hours, though.
  • Online deals – Even though big sale events have also moved online in the last few years, this approach seems not only reasonable but also a must this year. To provide a safer shopping experience, Walmart will focus more on online shopping, even if its stores will be open on Black Friday. When shopping online, customers will have the possibility to choose between different delivery options, such as free next-day/two-day shipping on purchases over $35 or same-day express shipping.
  • In-store rules – If you plan on shopping in-store, then following a few safety rules is required. Wearing a facial mask and keeping a certain distance from other customers and workers will be mandatory. To encourage a contactless shopping experience, the retailer has made available payment via its application.
