Target Deal Days 2020 Run at the Same Time as Amazon Prime Day – October 13 to 14

Soon after Amazon announced the start date of this year’s Prime Day event, other major retailers have shown up with their plans regarding their own sale events. Walmart and Target have announced similar sales taking place around the same time as Amazon’s event.

If Walmart put together an event that will stretch over five days, with the start date on October 11 and the last day of sales on October 15, Target took one step further and decided to run Deal Days at the same time as Prime Day, October 13 to 14.

This doesn’t come as a surprise, given that these two events were held on the same days last year as well. Therefore, all the three major retailers mentioned will run sale events during the same time, with Walmart’s Big Save Event having three extra days of discounts compared to Amazon and Target.

However, Target’s sale event brings changes as well. According to the retailer, the featured deals will be double compared to those made available in 2019. Interested shoppers will find hundreds of deals on a variety of product categories ranging from home items to tech.

What’s more, select discounts have already been released on October 5, and the retailer has also announced that savings will be available throughout the holiday season, so this is just the beginning.

How to Get Ready for Target Deal Days?

While in order to benefit from all the deals available at Prime Day, an Amazon Membership is required, things are different with Target as the price drops will be available for anyone and there is no membership required. Still, if you’re a Target RedCard holder, you can get an additional 5% off your orders.

If you already have a wishlist and want to seize the retailer’s event to stock up on your needs, keeping an eye on that particular item is the thing to do. You can thus benefit from early-bird deals as soon as they are available since stocks are likely to run short fast.

Enrolling in Target Circle, the retailer’s free royalty program, is also an inspired thing to do if you’re interested in exclusive deals and additional savings. Plus, since deals will be available online, it is probably a good idea to download and install the Target App and thus get your shopping cart ready for October 13.

Categories on Sale

Last year’s Deal Days event has covered various categories, including homeware, tech, fashion, as well as health and beauty. The event also brought forth noteworthy deals, such as the 12-month Switch Online family memberships for only $28 each, the PlayStation Classic for $20, as well as significant price cuts on brands such as Samsung and KitchenAid.

Moreover, a selection of products had prices lower than the ones offered by Amazon during its Prime Day event in 2019. The Google Nest Learning Thermostat, for example, was available for $189 (originally $249) at Target and $229.82 at Amazon. The Roku Ultra Streaming Player was discounted to $69.99 from $99.99 at Target’s Deal Days compared to $103.94 at Amazon.

Even though details regarding this year’s deals haven’t been released yet, we expect to see deals across all categories and even get a preview of some of them in the days prior to the event.

What’s Different This Year?

To support the best social distancing practices, Target offers different shipping methods so that you can choose the one you will feel most comfortable with. In case you want to pick the items you’ve ordered right away, you can go for the contactless Drive Up or Order Pickup option. Also, some products will even be available for same-day delivery.

The whole approach to shopping has changed this year, and several major retailers have announced changes concerning the way this season’s sale event will take place. For example, Walmart will have reduced in-store hours and focus more on online shopping on this year’s Black Friday and will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Target Plans for Black Friday 2020

The Black Friday sale events have witnessed various changes in the last few years and have now come to be extended to the entire month, turning November into ‘Black November’. This year, minimizing traffic in stores is even more crucial. Safety measures to reduce contact between shoppers and workers are mandatory, given the COVID-19 pandemic.

Target has announced that it will be closed on Thanksgiving this year, and even if, according to the information provided on the retailer’s official website, Black Friday will be held on November 27, Black Friday deals will begin November 1. There will be daily online deals and weeklong discounts.

Plus, this year’s deals will be advertised both online and in stores to prevent the stores from getting crowded. Considering the way this event worked in the last few years, we can expect sneak peeks of Black Friday deals before the event begins. You can also sign up if you want to be among the first customers to receive Target’s Black Friday ads.

Cyber Week and pre-Black Friday deals are also expected since they have become a part of the holiday season deals in the last years. Discounts won’t end once Black Friday ends, though. They will go beyond November and last through December.

Even if there is no official information regarding Target’s Black Friday opening hours yet, chances are that they will be the same or close to the ones we saw in the last years. In previous years, stores opened around 7 am and closed around 1 am, but this is only speculation, and these hours may differ.

Thanks to the store locator on the retailer’s website, you can find the exact opening hours for the store of interest once they are available. Deals will most probably apply to all categories as it happened so far. Target has offered deals on tech, gaming, and TVs but also on fashion items, small appliances, and even toys.
