Sam’s Club Unveils Black Friday 2020 Plans

The last few weeks have brought forth announcements from various major retailers regarding this year’s holiday shopping season, and Sam’s Club has just joined them by unveiling some of its plans for the upcoming sale events. While the warehouse club will be closed on Thanksgiving, it will put together more days of deals and thus extend the Black Friday event and provide its members with more exclusives.

Given the changes that have occurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the shoppers’ interest in buying more online, Sam’s Club has retailored its traditional Black Friday. It has, therefore, adjusted it in response to the new shopping preferences and to keep the shopping experience safer and support social distancing.

In order to do so successfully, the retailer is said to extend its staff and hire 2,000 additional supply chain associates. By spreading its sale events over several days, Sam’s Club will thus provide members with the opportunity to avoid crowds and benefit from deals for a longer time.

Sam’s Club Sale Events 2020

While in the past years, Sam’s Club held One-Day Savings Events in November and December, this year, it has decided to provide its members with several sale events as follows:

  • October Savings Event – the event took place between October 4 – 12.
  • November Instant Savings – the sale event is scheduled to begin on October 28 and last through October 29.
  • November Savings Event – taking place between November 7 – 15, this event has been extended to nine days.
  • Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale – while in the past, this sale event was usually limited to four days of deals, in 2020, Sam’s Club has decided to extend it to ten days and hold it from November 20 through November 29.
  • Cyber Monday Online-Only Savings Event – Limited to one day only, the Cyber Monday deals will be available online.
  • December Instant Savings – December will provide Sam’s Club members with a variety of deals, with the savings event taking place from December 1 to December 24.
  • December Savings Event – December will also include this special sale event that will be extended to nine days from four days as it used to be in the past and will thus begin on December 5 and last through December 13.

Sam’s Club Black Friday Savings Book & Curbside Pickup

In 2019, the warehouse club released its Black Friday ad on November 15, offering members and interested shoppers 16 pages of discounts on various products. What’s new this year is not only the ad release date since the ad is expected to be released much earlier but also the fact that there will be only a single savings book including all the November 2020 deals offered by Sam’s Club.

This savings book will be released and mailed to Sam’s Club members’ homes beginning with October 21, and December’s deals will follow the same line and thus be released in a single savings book and mailed in the last part of November. Considering the Black Friday 2019 deals, we can expect to see price drops on electronics, household items, groceries, and apparel.

To minimize contact and support social distancing, Sam’s Club offers contact-free shopping through the Scan & Go feature in the retailer’s app, as well as curbside pickup services.
